Elsewhere: 'Delicious Clam Variety Show #6'

WHAT IS THIS?

BYOB. A night for performers to try something different. This is open to interpretation, be it a new bit of material, an idea that's been nagging, trying something completely different to the norm or just be a bit silly. Or make a gameshow, always up for games

WHO CAN PERFORM?

Anyone! Poets, Folk artists, Performance, Stand Ups, Improvisers, Musicians, Sketch, Spoken Word. We are open to anything.

ITS A FUNDRAISER?

Yes! The night is completely self funded, so any money you contribute always goes back into producing the night. So far we’ve raised money for chairs and a hot water urn. So any profit made will be going to that. Cool? Cool!

Drinks Reception: 'Social Works? Open' - AxisWeb Publication Launch

We’re pleased to be hosting the launch of this exciting and much needed publication of new writing about social art practice.

Social Works?: Open was developed as a response to research conducted by the Models of Validation project, and is part of a larger programme of workshops, get-togethers and events supporting socially engaged artistic practice. The publication features 14 new commissioned pieces of writing and 2 artist commissions.

We will be joined by artist Loraine Leeson who will be reading an excerpt of her recent book Art:Process:Change - inside a socially situated practice, published by Routledge in 2017.

There will also be a digital version of the journal developed for publication on the Axisweb site in Winter 2018. To find out more about the Social Works?: Open and the Social Works? Programme please visit: www.axisweb.org/social-works or email rebecca@axisweb.org.

Come along for a drink and to hear a few readings from the publication.

Drinks Reception: 'At Your Service' - Mir Jansen

  • Yorkshire Artspace, Persistence Works (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Mir Jansen’s exhibition At Your Service paints a tribute to 70 years of NHS and the European nationals who work there. If patients and staff at the NHS are a true reflection of the demographic of our cities and regions then this exhibition asks us to think about who cares for us when we are most in need.

Mir will give a brief introduction to the exhibition at 6.30pm.
