Dublin-based collective Eight Stories will give a presentation and facilitate discussion around art and activism. Beginning with an overview of international art activism projects and initiatives, from the suffragettes to the contemporary use of play in protest, the session will explore diverse examples of making a change.
Focus will then shift to the Irish context in relation to the Repeal movement and how it evolved, specifically looking at how it included a younger generation hungry for change. Eight Stories will share examples of their contribution to the campaign and demonstrate how socially engaged practices can involve individuals in making a political change. Overall the collective will explore how ‘Art is our weapon.’
